Don’t tell your AI anything personal, Google warns in new Gemini privacy notice

Google’s Gemini Apps Privacy Hub sheds light on the data collected by Gemini applications, including conversations, location, feedback, and usage information. While Google claims to utilize this data to enhance products and services, the real concern arises regarding who has access to users’ conversations. Despite Google’s assurance of privacy protection and data anonymization, users are warned against sharing any confidential information or data they wouldn’t want Google to utilize.

What’s particularly unsettling is the revelation that reviewed conversations can be retained for up to three years, even after a user deletes their activity from the Gemini app. This prolonged data retention period, coupled with Google’s reminder not to disclose sensitive information in Gemini interactions, raises red flags about the potential risks associated with using such AI-driven tools.
