The National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) is set to launch as a pilot project, striving to democratize access to AI resources and expertise, and keep the U.S. competitive in the global tech scene. With a coalition of U.S. agencies and major tech companies involved, the NAIRR initiative will offer diverse AI resources to qualified researchers through a grant-making process. The project aims to bridge the gap in accessing AI resources and provide support across various sectors, including general research, privacy, security, software, and education. Although the number of accepted proposals for the initial pilot period is limited, more spots are expected to open up in the spring as the project progresses.
