Amazon has announced a new chatbot called Q for workplace use. This move is aimed at competing with Microsoft and Google in productivity software. Q, named after the character in James Bond or Star Trek, depending on who you ask at AWS, is currently available in a preview version with free features. Once the preview period ends, business users will be charged $20 per person per month, while developers and IT workers will be charged $25 per person per month.
Q can assist with understanding AWS capabilities, troubleshooting issues, and can connect to over 40 enterprise systems. It can also make automatic changes to source code and provide citations for its chat responses. The tool will be accessible in communication apps like Slack and text-editing applications. Experts believe that Q will be widely adopted by developers and cloud admins. Amazon has introduced various end-user applications in the past, but none have been particularly successful. Administrators will have control over Q’s ability to answer general questions.
