Microsoft has enhanced its Copilot AI assistant by integrating it with OpenAI’s advanced GPT-4 Turbo model, offering a significant performance boost for both free and paid users. The integration allows users to toggle between GPT-4 Turbo and the standard GPT-4, ensuring flexibility for different user preferences.
CEO Mikhail Parakhin specified that all Copilot modes will have access to GPT-4 Turbo, with each mode optimized to leverage the Turbo capabilities effectively. Creative and Precise modes are fully integrated with GPT-4 Turbo, while the Balanced mode selectively uses it in specific scenarios. Pro users with specialized needs can still opt for the standard GPT-4 through a toggle feature.
The introduction of GPT-4 Turbo, an upgraded version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT model, brings several advantages. Notably, GPT-4 Turbo has knowledge of events up to April 2023, enhancing its relevance and keeping it competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. The Turbo model also features a larger context window of 128k, enabling it to process a more extensive range of input prompts from users.
While free Copilot users are said to have constant access to GPT-4 Turbo, discrepancies exist concerning usage limitations during off-peak times, as indicated on the Copilot pricing page. However, it remains unclear whether this information mismatch is a result of delays in updating the pricing details.
