Nvidia is in advanced talks to acquire Run:ai, an AI infrastructure orchestration and management platform, in a deal valued at potentially hundreds of millions to $1 billion. Run:ai recently secured $75 million in funding in March 2022, bringing its total funding to $118 million. Founded in 2018 by Omri Geller and Dr. Ronen Dar, Run:ai specializes in software tailored for AI workloads on GPUs, offering a container platform for AI clouds that optimizes GPU utilization.
If the acquisition goes through, it would mark Nvidia’s first purchase in Israel since acquiring Mellanox for $6.9 billion in 2019. Nvidia, known for its semiconductor chips powering AI tools like ChatGPT, has seen remarkable market growth, with its valuation surpassing $2 trillion in just nine months. The surge in Nvidia’s shares has made it the world’s third-most-valuable company, driving record highs on Wall Street and giving the firm significant influence on the S&P 500 index.
